Dior Show

Step into a chapel of fashion at Dallas Museum of Art.

"Dior: From Paris to the World" through Sept. 1

Everyone's gaga over the groundbreaking new Dior: From Paris to the World exhibition at Dallas Museum of Art. Here's what to know before you go.

1. Kate Bosworth wore braids and animals to the opening last week and hung with Haley Anderson and Jordan Jones.
2. The show was conceived in part to highlight the designer's relationship with Stanley Marcus. The retailer invited Christian Dior on his very first trip to the U.S., effectively catapulting his career. You'll see Dior's own memorabilia from that trip.
3. The main gallery is designed with a dramatic tiered runway effect—inside you'll spot couture pieces that are a nod to Dia de los Muertos.
4. See how many celeb-worn gowns you can spot, including Nicole Kidman’s chartreuse Oscars gown and dresses Natalie Portman wore in the perfume commercials. There are pieces chosen by Rihanna, Grace Kelly and Marilyn Monroe, too.
5. The exhibit's showstopper is the section of dresses perched 40 feet in the air, suspended in the museum's Barrel Vault. They're topped with hats by Britain's Stephen Miller
6. Dior's creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri hung with Tina Craig before jetting off to shop at Dolly Python while she was in town.
7. Some pieces are showcased next to complementary art on loan from local collectors, including a Jackson Pollock and a Van Gogh.
8. One gallery breaks down the couture process, with well-preserved, decades-old muslin on view.
9. Of the 187 pieces in the exhibition, the first of its kind, all but two are couture. Don't just show up—timed-entry tickets required.
